The Roman EmpireThis year we will be exploring the Rise and fall of the Roman Empire. We will begin our exploration of "Rome" with a review of the Republic Era, then trace it's evolution into an Empire, Then Pax Romana, the Fall of the Western Roman Empire and conclude with the Byzantine Empire. Why study the ancient Romans? To put it plainly, they solidified the foundation that much of the western world is based on. They were so influential, that their ideas inspired both the Renaissance in Europe, and the Neoclassicism movement in early America. But don't take my word for it, explore the areas below and don't forget to learn something.

This tool includes a calculation device to determine how much it would cost you to travel to any location within the empire. Click on the either the image above to check it out, or the following link: orbis.stanford.edu/orbis2012/#mapping It's definitely awesome.
